Its purpose is the promotion of Chinese Medicine. The SMS was founded in 1978 by <a href=\"https:\/\/manfred-porkert.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Manfred Porkert<\/a> &#8211; who held a a PHD in Sinology &amp; Philosophy. He was joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/de.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carl-Hermann_Hempen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Dr. med. Carl-Hermann Hempen<\/a> &#8211; who is a medical doctor and professor of TCM at Munich University.
